On December 2, 2019, Council approved at a special Committee of the Whole the following resolution:
THAT Council authorize the cost of borrowing for the acquisition of the 753 Water Utility and other District of Hope Water Utility upgrades over the entire tax base of the District of Hope.
Based off this motion, the District of Hope has proposed a bylaw that funds the remainder of this project with a Water Parcel Tax. The District of Hope Water Parcel Tax Bylaw No. 1622, 2026 has been read three times and is pending approval based on the approval of the Water Parcel Tax roll.
A previous Water Parcel Tax Bylaw expired December 31, 2025. (District of Hope Water Parcel Tax Bylaw, 2005, No. 1171)
The Council of the District of Hope will be holding a Parcel Tax Roll Review Panel for the District of Hope Water Parcel Tax on Monday April 20, 2026 at 7:00 PM, in the Council Chamber of the District of Hope Municipal Office, 325 Wallace Street.
The Parcel Tax Roll Review Panel will hear complaints and will review and correct the Parcel Tax Assessment Roll as to the names of the owners of parcels of land and the Parcel Tax assessable. The Parcel Tax Roll Review Panel for will not hear a complaint unless written notice of it has been made to the Collector at least 48 hours prior to the time appointed for the sitting of the Court of Revision. Written notice can be provided in writing either by letter or email (info@hope.ca) by April 18, 2026 7:00 PM.
Property owners may request a correction to the Parcel Tax Roll only with respect to their own property and only for the following reasons:
- There is an error or omission respecting a name or address on the Parcel Tax Roll.
- There is an error or omission respecting the inclusion of a parcel.
- An exemption has been improperly allowed or disallowed.
The Water Parcel Tax Assessment Roll will be available for viewing during regular office hours at the reception counter of the District of Hope Municipal Office, 325 Wallace Street.
