FRASER RIVER UPDATE
District of Hope - June 8 2007 - Due to current high water levels on the Fraser River the District of Hope Flood Alerts to 66 properties in the Landstrom Road, Wardle Street, and Bristol Island/Tom Berry areas remain in effect.
The R.C.M.P. were assisted by Hope Search and Rescue to distribute the Alerts along with information about evacuation procedures.
While the rising levels on the Fraser River at Hope have currently slowed, residents are reminded that higher than normal levels could still be seen. The public is reminded of the dangers associated with the current high water levels and to stay clear of fast moving rivers and streams and respect road barricades.
The District of Hope activated its Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) at 5:00 pm on June 6, 2007. The EOC will remain active throughout the event to monitor river levels, ensure public safety, and provide critical information to local agencies.
Updates will be issued as they are made available and all public inquiries should be directed to the District of Hope Office and emergencies reported through 911.
