After 40 years in public service, Maurice Wutzke, Director of Operations for the District of Hope is retiring at the end of May.

Fire Department Receives New Addition

The District of Hope Fire Department’s newest fire truck is a CAFS Rapid Intervention Apparatus, built on a 2012 Ford F550 Chassis by HUB Fire Engines in Abbotsford. CAFS, short for Compressed Air Foam System, is relatively new technology that expands the effectiveness of water alone on a fire.

East Kawkawa Lake Water System to be Upgraded

The East Kawkawa Lake water system is about to receive a significant upgrade that will improve the quality of drinking water for residents in the District of Hope. The project is made possible thanks to a contribution of $450,000 from Canada’s Gas Tax Fund.
